About
Hi, I’m Anthony. I’m a storyteller and publisher with a focus on urbanism, sustainability and community engagement. I work for Human Nature, a campaigning development company, which is bringing forward the Phoenix project in Lewes. Before that I ran an award-winning independent publishing house and worked as a writer and editor in the national media.
I oversee Human Nature’s communications output, including newsletter, social media, press, websites, films, photography and printed media. I’m heavily involved in the community engagement and planning processes, including designing public exhibitions and collateral for events; shaping political and campaign messaging; and writing and designing documents, such as the Phoenix Design & Access Statement, tender documents, open letters and delivery plans. The Phoenix has received significant media coverage; it was described by The Guardian as offering “an environmentally sound model to rescue Britain’s broken private property sector” and by The Times as a “trailblazing model for how the UK might meet its net-zero goal”.
In 2014, I co-founded Waterfront, a publishing house and creative agency. At the company I oversaw all editorial processes – leading a team of writers, sub-editors and designers – planning, commissioning, editing and promoting the magazines, as well as shaping all visual output. The company published several in-house magazines aimed at the travel trade and produced magazines for the likes of ABTA, Travelzoo, The Travel Village and Advantage Travel Partnership. Waterfront’s titles won numerous awards including Trade Publication of the Year at the 2019 Travel Media Awards for ABTA Magazine.
I’ve worked for national newspapers and magazines as a writer and editor – including The Independent, I paper, NME, ShortList, Time Out London, The Times and Sunday Times – focusing mostly on travel, culture, urbanism and sustainability. Furthermore, I’m an experienced copywriter, having worked on campaigns for hundreds of clients, across travel, sport, law, finance and more, and a published photographer.
In summary:
I’ve led editorial and communications teams; created award-winning magazines and reports; managed large (and measly) budgets; commissioned designers, writers, photographers, illustrators and filmmakers; hosted talks and media events; run social media channels; shaped campaigns and political messaging; pitched and won business and overseen numerous product launches and relaunches.
