Helping organisations in the built environment communicate with clarity and confidence
I support clients through every stage of their communications — from early analysis and strategy to creative delivery and training.
Drawing on experience in journalism, publishing and communications, my work focuses on helping organisations in the built environment tell their stories clearly and convincingly. I collaborate with people shaping towns, cities and landscapes — from design studios and local authorities to developers, architects and cultural institutions.
Together, we bring communications into the heart of projects: not as an afterthought, but as a creative and strategic tool that builds understanding and trust.
This work takes four main forms:
1. Analysis
I review how your organisation communicates — across websites, social media, publications and press — to understand what’s working, what isn’t, and where there’s room to improve. The result is a detailed report highlighting strengths, gaps and practical next steps.
This can include:
-
Communications and SEO audits
-
Tone of voice and messaging reviews
-
Assessment of reach and engagement
-
Recommendations for structure, content and visuals
2. Strategy & planning
I help clients develop clear, coherent frameworks for how they communicate, defining who they’re speaking to and how to express ideas clearly and confidently.
This can include:- Audience mapping
- Communications and content strategies
- Style guides
-
Messaging frameworks and tone-of-voice development
-
Campaign and launch plans
-
Editorial calendars and schedules
3. Creative direction & delivery
I lead and deliver creative projects of all scales — reports, websites, social media campaigns and publications — working closely with designers, developers and photographers to ensure clarity and consistency in both language and visuals.
This can include:
-
Writing, editing and content creation
-
Storyboarding and creative direction of reports, decks and longer documents
-
Website creation — from structure and copy to testing and launch
-
Ongoing content production and management
4. Workshops & training
I design and run sessions to help teams strengthen their communications practice — from messaging and storytelling to writing, editing, social media and the creation of documents and guides.
This can include:
-
One-off workshops or longer training programmes
-
Storytelling and messaging sessions
-
Writing and editing training
-
Social media strategy and content guidance
